More Armor

Here is the promised picture of the HWMMV at Mosul in May, 2004 before the questions about "up armoring". This was on the base, which was not required by directive of use off base.

Not being in the Army, please, someone identify the calibre of the machine gun on the turret.

That would be the M2 .50 caliber machine gun. Slicing and dicing the bad guys since WWII

Thank you so much, vinnie, that was quick. Care to share your branch, hometown. I was in the control tower when this HWMMV parked next to us.

Are you getting all your VA benefits (my 3rd job)!

Not a vet/military, but that was too easy. ID'ing a ma deuce is as easy for most military history buffs as recognizing a '57 Chevy is for a car freak. It was designed in the 20's, I think, as an anti-tank weapon (before the Germans developed the Panzer and threw a monkey wrench in the whole ATR idea).

Somehow someone found their way from your blog tp mine, according to Site Meter. I don't know how, but I'm glad. Nice blog ya got here. Thank you for serving.

Welcome, I'm on my way to visit yours. Nice history on the ma deuce.
